“Well done, good and faithful servant.” He stepped from this earthly life into eternity, walking the streets of gold he so often spoke of with hope and conviction.
Born on March 19, 1956, in Lumberton, North Carolina, to Lacy and Margaret (Jacobs) Jones, he was called early to a life of purpose. For more than 42 years, Pastor Jones devoted his life to ministry—not only from the pulpit, but also through every quiet act of kindness, every prayer spoken, and every heart he gently guided toward Christ.
His ministry was not measured by sermons alone, but by the countless lives he touched. He met people where they were—in moments of joy, sorrow, uncertainty, and even in their final days—reminding them of God’s grace, mercy, and love. The souls he helped lead and the comfort he brought are as countless as the grains of sand on the shore.
That shoreline held a special place in his heart. Some of his most cherished moments were spent watching the sunrise, listening to the rhythm of the waves, and collecting seashells alongside his beloved wife of 50 years—whom he often said, “should have been a mermaid.” Close by his side in those quiet moments was his loyal companion and fur baby, Briggs, who brought him constant joy, comfort, and laughter.
Pastor Jones found his greatest joy in making others smile. Whether in sunshine or storm, he was always present for those in need—never seeking recognition and never expecting anything in return. He simply lived to serve as the hands and feet of Christ. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, humility, and unwavering devotion to others.
He is survived by the love of his life, his devoted wife, Ruby “Jean” Jones; his son, Lacy (Kaela) Jones; his daughter, Lisa Jones; and his treasured grandchildren, Jordan Foster, Katie Sinclair, Autumn Crosby, Victoria Crosby, Emalyn Parrish, Olivia Jones, Adalyn Parish, Lacy “Junior” Jones, and great-grandchildren, who were truly the apple of his eye and brought endless pride and joy to his life. He is also survived by his sister, Virginia (Ray Smith) Jones; and his brothers, Bobbie Jones and Billy Jones.
A Memorial Service will be held at Carolina Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406, US, on June 26, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Though he has gone home, his sermons continue—not from the pulpit, but through the lives he changed, the faith he planted, and the love he gave so freely. Until we meet again on that heavenly shore, Papa’s love, faith, and gentle spirit will live on in every life he touched.
