Lois Mims

Lois Mims, 87, went to be with her heavenly father on Sunday, May 23, 2021.

Born in Watertown, Wisconsin, Lois was the only child of Rev. Francis E. Weber and Myrtle F. Hinze Weber.

Lois studied Early Childhood Development at Indiana Central College. She was married to her husband, Reginald Gerald Mims Jr. at Second Moravian Church, Indianapolis, Indiana. Her father, Rev. Weber officiated.

Mrs. Mims worked for Graybar Electric as a switchboard operator. Later, she managed the family business, Tastee-Freez for 14 years. She also worked at J. C. Penney department store and was an Avon lady. The job she loved most was working with special needs children. She had a heart for teaching and encouraging and looked forward to each time she would be called as a substitute teacher or teacher’s aide.

Lois loved spending time with children and she did a lot of reading in her spare time. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, decorating and bike rides. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was always proud of her family.

Lois is survived by her husband of 67 years, Reginald Gerald Mims Jr., three children, Reginald Gerald Mims III (Debbie), Michael Francis Mims (Cheryl) and Janice Kaye Mims Garcia (Manny). She was a grandmother to 7 and a great grandmother to 7 more.

Service will be graveside at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Carolina Memorial Park, Funerals & Cremation located at 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. 843-797-2222. Saturday,
