Lori Carlson, affectionately known as “GiGi” 55 of Summerville, SC, passed away, 3 days before her 56th birthday. Lori was born in PA and moved to Summerville in 2007. She was a bank manager in the Poconos before moving to S.C. Lori beat the odds when she was diagnosed with cancer over 30 years ago but unfortunately the treatments had a long term effect on her body. She loved going to the beach, floating down the river, the Philadelphia Eagles, Fleetwood Mac and playing cards but most importantly her children and grandchildren. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels here in Summerville. She will be truly missed and has left a huge void in our lives. She was survived by her children she loved and their companions, Monica D'Alessandro (Andrew), Tony D'Alessandro (Chrissy), Shayna Carlson (Nick) and Kristyn Miller and her husband Joe Miller; her grandchildren which she adored, Destynee Klenke, Jason D'Alessandro and Jaxson Miller; her father, Lloyd Frey; sister and her husband, Deanna (Dave) Hall; brother, Scott Frey. She was predeceased by her loving mom who just passed away 2 months ago, Kay Frey.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, May 23, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Carolina Memorial Funerals & Cremation, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406.

I am not quite sure how I will spend the rest of my life without you! We have been BFF’s for 40+ years! I can’t express the sadness I feel knowing I will never hear you voice again, I’ll never sit and share a bottle of wine😢 our yearly girl trips will never be the same! 💔
You were beyond my friend, you were family!
You my friend will always be in my heart ❤️
You fought a great battle! Now rest easy girl😇

I was saddened to read about Lori's passing. I originally met Lori because she was the bank manager where we banked. Later, I had the pleasure of teaching her lovely daughter, Shayna. I always enjoyed chatting with Lori, and I always knew how proud she was of her children. Taken too early from this earth, my deepest condolences to Lori's family. I hope your fond memories of Lori bring you comfort.
With sympathy,

There are no words or pictures that can come close to describing what a beautiful person Lori was. She was strong willed, courageous and had a heart so full of love for life and her family and friends. She was loved by many and will truly be missed.

Gigi you sure were special.

Not only did you make me feel welcome, you quickly became someone I could rely on to talk to. Someone I could open up to. I’m pretty sure you made everyone feel the same way.

I saw first had how your family adored you. You will be missed! But have a look at the family you built! And rest assured that Monica, Tony, Shayna, Kristyn, Chrissy, Nick and Joe will keep it alive. You taught them how.

Thank you Gigi. Thanks for letting me beat you at pool when we first met in your garage that night, thanks for feeding me on occasion and thanks for giving me tips on how to handle your eldest daughter! ;) Most of all Gigi, thank you for the friendship.

I want to be there on Saturday but I can’t. I wish I could. But, I’ll say goodbye in my own way.

Rest easy Gigi and enjoy the view. Big love from Lenny, Lia & Andrew.

Words are certainly difficult for me to write but I would like to express to Lori’s beautiful family and her many many friends my heartfelt condolences .
I believe in angels and my faith tells me that she became a “ busy “ angel the instant she was held in God’s arms. I was privileged to know her and will continue to always be inspired by her .
