

Louis Ray Humphries, son of the late Noah Lee Humphries and Martha Elena Martin, passed away on November 28, 2024, at the age of 87 at his home in Moncks Corner, SC. Louis was born in Double Springs, Alabama, on August 5, 1937. He is survived by his wife, Annie Lenora Pate; 2 daughters, Tamara L. Lipsey (Robert III) of Ladson, SC and DeAnna R. Owens (Micah) of Goose Creek, SC; 3 grandsons, Robert L. Lipsey IV (Marinesa) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Kameron S. Lipsey of Charleston, SC, Nathanael J. Meyer of Moncks Corner, SC; 2 granddaughters, Nicole L. Coblentz (DJ) of Summerville and Regen R. Meyer of Moncks Corner, SC; three great-grandsons, Connor, Levi and Isaac, and 3 great-granddaughters, Eleanor, Aria and Lucy. He is also survived by his brother, James W. Humphries (Dale Ann); sister, Shelby Jean Reynolds; and sister-in-law, Lottie Humphries, all of Double Springs, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Susan C. Prochaska, and 2 brothers, Noah L. Humphries, Jr. and Quinton T. Humphries. Louis enjoyed 28 years in the United States Air Force. During that time, he flew as a Navigational Engineer in and out of Libya, Turkey, Greece, Vietnam, and Alaska. After being stationed for 10 years at Dover AFB, Delaware, he was transferred to Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan and was the Chief Maintenance Engineer for three years. Upon returning to the USA in 1981, he was assigned to Eglin AFB, Florida for eight years. In August 1988, after 28 years of honorable service, Louis retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. He then moved back to Charleston, South Carolina with Annie to build the house of their dreams. Annie, his wife of 57 years, was the love of his life. He enjoyed his family, gardening, listening to country music, dancing with Annie, and watching western movies. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
The family will receive guests for a visitation on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 11AM-12PM at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, located at 7113 Rivers Ave., N. Charleston, SC 29406. A celebration of life service will follow in the chapel at noon. Mr. Humphries will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Park thereafter with Military Honors.
