

Lucille Carter, age 97, of North Charleston, SC, passed away on January 28, 2025. Lucille was born in Bonneau, SC, to the late Eva Irene Timmons Goings and the late Phillip Benjamin Goings on September 18, 1927. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, with a heart as big as her spirit.
Lucille leaves behind her devoted children: Phyllis Cooper (George) of Simpsonville, SC; Jimmy Carter (Twila) of Summerville, SC; Dennis Carter (Tammy) of North Charleston, SC; and Sandra Stone (Marshall) of Blythewood, SC. As well as 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 15 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her cherished siblings: General W. Goings of Missouri; and Irene Huckabee of Virginia.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James A Carter Sr.; her father, Phillip Benjamin Goings; her mother, Eva Irene Timmons Goings; her sister, Agnes Skinner; her brothers, Phillip Goings, George Goings, Harley Goings, Theo Goings, Alton Goings, Joseph Goings, and Robert Goings.
Lucille leaves behind a legacy of love and service to the Lord. Her unwavering devotion to the body of Christ was evident in her faithful attendance and willingness to lend a helping hand wherever needed. Lucille was known to spend countless hours preparing meals and serving the church community as well as for her beloved family. Lucille has received that welcome from Christ that we all long to hear: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord.” She will truly be missed and always remembered by those who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 10 am at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home with the Life Celebration Service 11 am in the Carolina Memorial Chapel. Burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park
It was Lucille’s wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to her beloved church Deep River Church of God located at 8190 Dorchester Rd, North Charleston, SC 29418.
