I will never forget our summers at Isle of Palms or our Spring Breaks at Santee.  She was a mean air hockey player, knew how to boil a peanut and had a smile that lit up a room.  She also had a stubborn streak a mile long.  Combine Gissendanner and Golden and that equals stubborn.  

In retrospect I realized that she and her partner in crime, Helen, drug me around with them during the Eau Claire days because Grandma made them. I had no idea they were babysitting me.  I thought I rode along because they wanted me to.  We were partners on grand adventures. I cannot hear the song "Downtown" without thinking of Mamie and Helen.  

When I was older, during the Rhett Avenue days I would tag along with her to work. I would sit on her counter in the mornings and watch her put on her makeup and get ready for work.  She loved pantsuits, vests and long necklaces.  Her"jury" as she called it.  I thought she was so awesome and fashionable and was 100 percent certain that she could accomplish anything that she wanted.  I must say I sure did hear some interesting stories during her "girls" smoke breaks at work!!

"Mae-Mae" thank you for not totally flipping out when I let my hamsters loose in the car on the way to Santee.  I am truly sorry that I hated your Chihuahuas so much because I know you loved them. In my defense they hated me too. I still have 2 scars to prove it.  

Most of all thank you for loving me, being my friend and letting me hang with your girl tribe.   

Rest easy.  I know you are missed!



Mā with the grandkids, you will be missed. 

I want to express my condolences to all my Golden family,at the passing of Mamie. We will all miss her & her radiant smile. Colleen, know that your Momma loved you so so much and Billy, also, as well as all her grandbabies. She was very proud of you all. Hold onto all those good & precious memories & let any of the not so good go as that is what will carry you in the days ahead. I will always remember all the years of having Mamie as my sister- in- law. She had alot of wisdom to share, as well as love. Her earthy pain & suffering is now over as she moves on. She will live on in all of our hearts & memories forever. To all of her siblings, I hurt for you as well, as I know each of you are hurting in your own way. Mamie loved each of you & was so proud of each one of you. To all of us in-laws ( aka outlaws)... she loved us as well as if we were blood siblings. She would want us all to remember the great times we shared throughout all the many years we have had with her. Today, as she is laid to eternal rest, may God bless & touch each of our lives in a special way. May He help us to move forward in Him as we trust Him to heal our hearts of the pain of Mamie's loss. I love you all. Walter, (aka Bubba), you are her baby brother & I know you are aware of her love for you, also. We had alot of fun times with her and you being my husband, I know how very much you love her as well. I wish you healing & rest in the only one that can carry us through these kinds of events. Remember always, that smile & twinkle in her eyes. God bless & keep us all. I love you, Jayne Golden
