

Marion Burnett “Sam” Grayson, 79, of Charleston entered into eternal rest on December 3, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born March 6, 1935 in Charleston, SC to Arthur and Thelma Grayson. As a native Charlestonian, he was a 1953 graduate of the “Old” Charleston High School. He enjoyed sports and for many years officiated in both basketball and baseball from the recreational church league, high school and college throughout the state. He worked for many years at the Sportsman Shop on Wentworth Street and the Sports Cave in St. Andrews Center, West Ashley. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed by many. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth “Pat” Grayson; three sons, David Grayson (Laura), Steven Grayson and Stuart Grayson, and one daughter, Christy Grayson. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Kacie Silver, Monique Grayson, Josh Grayson, Ashley Grayson, Sam Grayson and Alex Grayson; one sister, Judy Crunk of Summerville; one brother W.O. Grayson (Barbara) of Georgetown, SC and nieces and nephews including one special grandniece, Ainsley Parson. Memorials may be made to the SC Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, P.O.
