Marynell Wallace

Marynell was born in Houston, Texas on September 18, 1949. She was the daughter of James and Viola Dodd.

After graduating high school and a college nursing program she began a decades long career as an RN, caring for others as she continued to do throughout her life. She settled in North Texas in her adult life. After marrying Jim in 1995 they were transplanted about the country by his employer from Texas to California and Maryland, then finally to Ladson, South Carolina where they were finally able to set down deep roots again in their church and the community for almost two decades. In retirement she continued to be called on frequently as a caregiver by friends and family. She became a “Volunteer Extraordinaire” selflessly giving of her time as a full-time volunteer at their church, the local senior center, Operation Christmas Child and Stonecroft. Her hobby was shopping at Goodwill, and she loved the opportunity to go there wherever she travelled. She is a member of Peace Presbyterian Church in Goose Creek, SC.

Marynell is survived by her stepdaughter Denise Wallace Garcia; brother, Randy Dodd; sister-in-law, Elaine Dodd and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by husband, Jim Wallace; parents, James and Viola Dodd; and brothers, Kenneth and Grady Dodd.

Funeral Services will be held at Peace Presbyterian Church, 174 Londonderry Rd, Goose Creek on Sunday, March 9 at 3 pm, followed by Nurses Honor Guard Nightingale Tribute and Final Call to Duty; reception with the family will be held in the fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers donation to Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County, 1 Belknap Rd, Goose Creek, SC 29445.
