Odessa Padgett was born to Johnny and Cornelia Padgett of Ridgeland South Carolina on November 22, 1924. Odessa attended the public schools of Jasper County. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at the age of 12 in 1936 and attended the Padgett Branch Baptist Church. She was the loving wife of William Clarence Hall Sr. Clarence and Odessa was married May 6, 1946 upon his return from active duty in WWII. They joined the neighborhood church Promise Land Baptist church after Clarence accepted Christ in 1955.They were both committed to serving God and became Deacon and Deaconess in 1965. Her beloved Clarence preceded her in death in 1994. Odessa was a lifetime learner and promoter of education. She put her passion in to practice by returning to school and earning her Palmetto Beauty Culture School Diploma and State Cosmetology License in 1964. Her beloved Clarence built a beauty shop for her to practice her Art and she did from 1964 to 1985. Odessa retired to care for her mother Cornelia until she departed this life in 1987. Her dedication to family came calling again to care for her beloved Clarence until his death August 30, 1994.
Odessa left this earthly home surrounded by family, friends and caregivers. She was the 7th child of 11 siblings (Annie, Carrie, Rosealee, Jack, Caroline, Henry, (Odessa), Harold, Alice, and Daniel who have all preceded her in death. She is survived by her baby sister Clywreth Padgett Green (Major and Marlon) of Charleston SC. She also leaves to celebrate her life, her beloved son, William Clarence Hall, Jr. and daughter Althea Odessa Hall-White, Granddaughter Reyvonna Shontelle White, of Brandon, Florida, Grandson Frank William White, (Shonmeka), Great Grandsons Devin Rashad and Brandon Jamal White, of Clayton North Carolina Special Friends; Eduora McDaniel, Houston, Texas, Vivian Jones, Charleston, SC, Special Niece Tammy McCoy, Palisades Park New Jersey, Special Neighbors, Nuriel and Wendell Henderson and Barbara Anderson, along with a host of Nieces and Nephews grand and great grand both far and near.
