Patricia “Pat” Ann Smith Puckett passed away peacefully at her home on March 27, 2024 with her family and her dog, Gizmo, by her side. She was 85 years of age, and was born in Claxton, Georgia. She was the 5th of nine children born to Charles & Velma Smith. Later on, her family moved to North Charleston and that became home to the Smith family. Pat graduated from North Charleston High School and she was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church, where she later exchanged vows with her husband, Jim Puckett. Throughout her life, Pat made significant contributions to the banking industry, as she held various positions, including Bank Manager, until she retired in 2004. Pat’s interests were diverse and included but were not limited to: canning, cooking, reading, quilting, crafting, traveling with her family, and researching genealogy. She cherished moments spent delving into her family’s history alongside her siblings, creating lasting bonds and memories. There have been a lot of good memories shared over the years in the Smith and Puckett household and Pat will be forever missed by all of her family and friends.
Pat leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion.
She is survived by her son, James “Woody” Puckett, and his wife, Donna; grandsons, Richard Puckett and his wife, Jacqueline, and Allen Puckett; great-granddaughters, Scarlett Stelley and Lorelai Puckett; brother, John Smith; brother, Richard Smith, and his wife, Gail; sister, Geraldine Stachewice; sister, Barbara Jones; and sister, Judy Barton.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Puckett; her father, Charles Albert Smith Sr.; her mother, Velma B. Johnson; her brother, Charles A. Smith Sr.; her sister, Kathleen Cochran; and her brother, Stanley Smith. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her, and she will be deeply missed.
A life well celebrated graveside service at Carolina Memorial Gardens, located at 7113 Rivers Ave. North Charleston, SC, in the Garden of Devotion, will be held for Patricia on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 2:00 PM.
