He was surrounded by family at the time of his passing.

Percy was born in Hampton, SC. on January 9th, 1938, the 3rd of 4 children to the late P.W. Smith and Elizabeth Ogelesby Smith. Following graduation from North Charleston HS, he served 4 years in the U.S. Army including overseas duty in France and Germany.
He spent more than 40 years in automobile sales and loved the many business relationships and friendships he fostered throughout his career. He was a well-loved and well-trusted businessman that truly enjoyed serving the community. He worked as a Funeral Assistant at the Carolina Memorial Funeral Home for 14 years. He spent many years in the service of Northwoods Baptist Church and served in a variety of capacities.
Percy was an avid hunter and fisherman and adored his beloved Carolina Gamecocks.
In addition to JoAnn his wife of 46 years, he is survived by his daughter Robyn (John) Welfring, his son Ward (Jennifer) Smith, brother Louis Smith, sister Mary Lamb, and grandchildren Alex, Otto, Mia, and Greta.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Northwoods Baptist Church.
