Rayford Avant Sr.

Relatives and friends of Rayford Avant are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the time of service on Saturday.

Rayford was born in Conway, South Carolina, on November 18, 1933. He was the son of Arthur W. and Lucile Avant. Rayford Avant Sr. was a loving husband, good father and grandfather. He was a man of GOD who loved his church.

Rayford is survived by his wife, Ann Avant; his three children, Debbie Thompson, Rayford Avant Jr., and Jenny Burnett; his step-children, Joe (Robin) Oglesby, David Olglesby, Cheryl (Shawn) McMahon and Adele Thompson; his grandchildren, Rosa (Gary) Roberts, Crystal Avant, Sammie-Jo (Tim) Benson and Logan (Anna) Burnett; his great-grandchildren, Brooke Wright, Gracelynn Roberts, Graylee Roberts, Taliyah Avant, Reese Benson, Raelynn Benson, Ryatt Benson; his eight step-grandchildren and his siblings, Patricia Gadberry and Art Avant.

He was preceded in death by the loving mother of his 3 children, Lenora Lynn Avant; his sisters, Peggy Shaw and Bobby Fort; brother, Mark Avant; daughter in law, Dee Avant and son-in-law, Carl Burnett.
