Richard "Ricky" Alan Baxley, 68, of Goose Creek, SC, passed away on September 3rd at home with his family by his side. He was born August 20, 1958, in Waynesville, Missouri. He was the son of Frank and Jean Baxley.
Ricky is survived by his children, Ricky Baxley Jr. (Ashley) and Ashley Baxley; grandchildren, Emily, Drake, and Emerson; and sisters, Debra (Donny) Stephens and Cindy Baxley.
Ricky loved fishing and hunting, but nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his grandchildren.
In his younger years, Ricky enjoyed playing softball, hunting, and fishing. He later found great fulfillment coaching his children in recreational sports, including football, baseball, softball, and basketball. In recent years, he devoted his time to attending his grandchildren's sporting events—cheering them on in hockey, baseball, cheerleading, gymnastics, and Miracle League baseball.
Ricky worked at Westvaco from March 3, 1977, until his retirement on September 1, 2021, serving in several roles throughout his tenure there.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Carolina Memorial Funeral and Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, also at Carolina Memorial Funeral and Gardens, with burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to make a donation to the American Heart Association or GiGi’s Playhouse Charleston.
