Robert L. (Robbie) Bonifay Jr. of Hanahan passed away Monday, April 3rd 2017. Robbie was born January 19th, 1957, the son of Capt. Robert L. Bonifay Sr. USMC (ret) and Frances McClenny of Summerville. Robbie spent his formative years developing his love of the water, hunting, and a general penchant for mischief on James Island. After graduating from James Island High School with the honor of “Least Likely to Succeed” (narrowly beating out his partner in crime, Roy Wooten, for the distinction) he went on to a successful career in the Medical Device manufacturing field. After retiring as the Hill-Rom Plant Manager in Charleston, Robbie went on to found his own company, Airus Medical, based on a revolutionary wound care therapy that he designed. While it can be fairly said that Robbie danced to his own beat, it is also equally true that his true love and passion was his family and friends. Everything he did, from work, coaching youth sports, Cub Scouts, fishing, hunting, storytelling and BBQing were more for the benefit and enjoyment of his family and friends than his own. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Pamela (Chubb) and their two children Alex Bonifay and Christina Dennis (Ryan); mother Frances McClenny (Mac); mother in-law Leona Chubb; sisters Cheryl Bonifay, Wendi Dion (Troy), Marti White; brothers “Buddha” Bonifay (Rosalyn), Michael Driggers, Walter Bonifay, Lee Bonifay (Leslie) and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored. Robbie is predeceased by his father, Robert Sr. The family would like to express their solemn gratitude for the outpouring of support and will receive family and friends at their home located at 1066 Dominion Drive, Hanahan on Saturday April 8th from 4-7pm. Online condolences may be sent to www.carolinamemorial.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you to make donations to Fishing for Miracles Post Office Box 2 Sullivans Island, SC 29482.
