

Robert Cameron Long, Sr., 91 of North Charleston and widower of Bobbie Jean Long, his wife for 64 years, died April 26, 2019 at Life Care of Charleston. A funeral service will be held on May 2, 2019 at Midland Park United Methodist Church, 2301 Midland Park Road at 12:00 P.M. The family will receive friends at 11:00 A.M. prior to the service.
Robert was born September 6, 1927 in Charleston, SC, son of the late John Douglas Long Jr. and the late Julia Rebecca Thomas. He was a world war II Veteran and a retired pipe fitter with the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Midland Park United Methodist Church and served in many areas for over fifty years: Choir, Church School Teacher, Vacation Bible School, Church Treasure, Trustee and Altar guild. Robert enjoyed playing the harmonica for different functions. He was the first leader of our church Primetimers.
Robert is survived by his sons: Robert C. Long, Jr., Newport, NC.; William M. Long, Charleston, SC; Christopher B. Long, Garden City, SC; Three Sister-in-laws: Aileen Long (Thomas) Charleston, SC; Lynn Long (William) Texas; Mary Anne (Francis) Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Long is predeceased by seven brothers and two sisters: Earl H. Long, Gladys E. Cobb, Mary L. Long, Kenneth H. Long, John D. Long, Thomas B. Long, Francis J. Long, Lewis P. Long, and William C. Long.
