For those of us who were blessed to be able to experience Sandy’s love, understood that her strong will and sassy soul left an imprint on our hearts for eternity.
Sandy was talented and adventurous in many aspects of her life. Sandy could be found usually with her husband many weekends at Scottish Society events, embracing their Scottish heritage, or enjoying brunch with her family and friends.
Sandy retired after devoting 12 years to MUSC College of Pharmacy, as chief of staff. After her retirement she enjoyed doing her many different crafts or spending time with her fur babies. She looked forward to yearly “girls' weekend together”, as well as spending as much time with her family and dear friends.
Sandy is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years Skip Spence; grandchildren, Megan Rollins (Ricky), Celia Whisher (Cody) and Trisha Rawlins; great grandchildren, Jaden Peagler, Lyla Kinch, Caydence Peagler, Raelynn Rawlins, and Elaina Rawlins; a very special niece, Michele Gurganus Coley (Shawn) and Jena Thompson Hough (Josh, Thompson, Easton); her sisters, Dee Langston (Donnie), Millie Carpenter (Rhonda), and Martina Wissinger(Jim) as well as loved ones, Sherry Spence, Scott Spence, Preston Spence, and Lisa Barr and countless other family and friends.
Sandy was predeceased by her loving daughter Phyllis Sweet Rawlins; great grandson, DJ and her sister Judith B Davis.
A drop-in service to Celebrate Sandy’s monumental life will be Friday, May 30th, 2025, from 5-7pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family asks to please consider making a donation to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or to My Sisters House: Domestic Abuse Shelter.
