Santo (San, Saint, Mr. Good Lookin', Gramps) was born January 7, 1939, to Emmanuel and Mary (DeMarco) Renda, in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
He grew up in “The Burg” and was always proud of his Italian heritage. He served in the US Army as a company cook from 1957 to 1960 and continued his military service in the US Army National Guard until 1965. He married Joanne in 1959, became a master plumber and moved to Fanwood, New Jersey, in 1972 where he continued to raise his family and grow his plumbing business.
San was an avid golfer and often enjoyed playing at his home course at Galloping Hill in Kenilworth, New Jersey, with his brother-in-law Sonny. He also enjoyed fast-pitch softball and liked to tell the story of a "no hitter" he pitched which was memorialized on the game ball he kept close at hand.
San and Joanne moved to the Charleston area in South Carolina in the early 1990s where he retired however, continued to use his plumbing skills to help family and friends. Following the death of his wife Joanne, San and Zina were married in 2009 and moved to Summerville, South Carolina.
San loved to share his musical ability with his church family, including singing solos and in choirs and playing the accordion and organ. He also enjoyed teaching young people about Jesus through Sunday School, Boys Brigade and Awana for many years. San was an active member of Tri-City Baptist Church in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.
He will be missed dearly by his family and friends, but we praise the Lord for his testimony of salvation in November 1975 and that he is now with his Lord and Saviour for all eternity.
