Sidney was born in Chapman, ME, to his late parents Peter and Winifred Carrier.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Joan Carrier, and their children: Cynthia Firth (Scott), Anita Vigil, and Greg Carrier (Debbie). Sidney was a cherished grandfather to Brandon Crouch, Courtney Vigil, Jessica Carrier, and Lauren Firth (Tyler).
Sidney was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Winifred Carrier, as well as his brothers, Dan Carrier and Bernard Carrier.
Sidney's patriotism and dedication to his country were evident through his service in both the Navy and Army National Guard, from which he retired after 25 years of honorable duty. His commitment and sacrifice will forever be remembered and appreciated.
After his military service, Sidney embarked on a second career at the Charleston Shipyard, where he worked as an electrician in shop 67. His expertise and skill were invaluable, and he contributed to the success and growth of the shipyard until his retirement.
Papa, as he was affectionately known, possessed an incredible talent for fixing anything that crossed his path. He eagerly lent a helping hand to neighbors and friends, always ready to tackle any challenge. One of his greatest joys was hosting barbeques for large groups of people, where he shared his love for good food and the company of loved ones.
In his leisure time, Sidney found solace in fishing, shrimping, and indulging in his favorite pastime of watching John Wayne movies on TV. These simple pleasures brought him immense happiness and relaxation.
Above all, Sidney cherished his wife, Joan, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. He also held his children and grandchildren dear to his heart, finding joy in their presence and creating lasting memories together.
The family will hold a funeral service to celebrate Sidney's life on Friday July 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church located at 1106 Fort Drive, Hanahan, SC 29410.
