Stephen Kubicki Jr.

Stephen was born in Port Jefferson, NY, to Stephen and Sophie Kubicki on September 24, 1947. He attended school in Westhampton before marrying his beloved wife, Lorraine, on August 22, 1970, in Brooklyn, NY.

A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, Stephen served with honor in the United States Navy as an Electronics Technician. He served aboard the USS Constellation and the USS John F. Kennedy, where he held the distinction of being a plank owner. Following his military service, Stephen dedicated 38 years to civil service, spending the majority of his career with SPAWAR in Philadelphia, PA.

Outside of his professional life, Stephen, known as “Sonny” to family and close friends, was a man of the water. He was never happier than when he was fishing, spending time on his boat, or enjoying a day at the beach. Stephen was known for his hearty sense of humor and his incredible technical skill and knowledge. He loved tinkering with things, and it was often said there was nothing he could not fix and nothing he did not know; his family affectionately referred to him as “Britannica.” Above all, he cherished every moment spent with his family.

Stephen is preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Sophie, and his brother, Jerry Kubicki.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; his daughter, Cheryl (Gason); his sisters, Julie (Richie), Mary (Tom), and Carol (Tom); his cherished granddaughters, Gracie and Gabbie; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 – 8:00pm, on Friday, May 15, 2026, Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm, on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Garden.

Pallbearers: Gason Gregor, Tom Taylor, Tom Cruickshank and Kristopher Kubicki.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
