

Relatives and friends of Thurman Craft, Jr. are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 2:30 PM, Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the graveside, Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 PM on Saturday the 29th at the funeral home. He was a longtime supporter of St. Jude and the family requests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
Thurman was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina, on April 30, 1942. He was the son of Thurman Russell Craft and Pearl Bennett Craft.
Thurman loved to fish and hunt. He loved his dogs and trained them to hunt. He was a runner, an avid tennis player, loved golf, shagging, beach music, and college football. He worked for the railroad before a lifelong career at Carolina Power & Light, retiring as a Transmission Line Supervisor. Returning to do relief work a week later, he spent a year in Louisiana and Texas due to Hurricane Katrina.
He is survived by his daughters, Monica Craft Mclean and Meredith Lea Petit (Durant); his grandchildren, Nichole Garren and her husband Chris, Keith Mclean, Darby Stanley, Doyle Stanley, Nathan Craft, Jason Reynolds, Jr., Nevaeh Reynolds, Kai Petit; his beloved Grand Dog, Wiggles Petit; his great Grandson, Halo Craft; nieces, Joann Duncan (Vernon), Marcie Carangelou (Rick), Christy Mclaughlin (Denny) and nephews, Kelly Hayes, Seth Parker (Stephanie) and Vince Parker. He was a friend to many with two or four legs. He donated his pacemaker to save the life of an animal in need. Thurman was predeceased by his mother, Pearl Bennett Craft; father, Thurman Russell Craft; his wife, Carolyn Lewis; sister, Ann Council; nephews, Mike Council and Richard Hayes as well as his son in law, Byron Mclean and lifelong friend Frankie Swaim.
