Uldene M Weatherford Short

Uldene Martha Weatherford Short, 89, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at her residences. Mrs. Short was born in Scranton, SC, County of Florence on July 25, 1925 to Luther K. Weatherford and Louise F. Weatherford. She graduated from Scranton High School where she was very active in sports, especially basketball. She has also was an active member of Petal Pushers Garden Club, North Charleston, a former member of the Summerville Iris Society, a lifetime member of the African Violet Club, a former active member of the National Federation of the Blind of South Carolina. She entered and participated in the Flower Show in the Coastal Carolina Fair, where she won numerous design ribbons and awards for many years. Mrs. Short attended Old Fort Baptist Church where she was active in the Rainbow Sunday Class and the Young at Heart Group. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Mims (Kenny); one grandson, Kenneth Mims (Brandy); two granddaughters, Elizabeth Mims and Heather Baker (Tony); one daughter-in-law, Tina Jones; seven great-grandchildren, Lee Mims, Christopher Mims, Andrew Mims, Meagan Mims, Hannah Baker, Nicholas Mims and Alex Mims. Mrs. Short is also survived by three siblings, Noami Stout (Bill), Jeanne Anderson (Johnny), and Willie Weatherford (Vivian). In addition to her parents, Mrs. Short was preceded in death by one son, Herbert Jones. Visitation for Mrs. Short will take place on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mrs. Short will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in Carolina Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow immediately after the service in Carolina Memorial Park.
