He attended the Roosevelt High School in Springfield, Ohio. Vernon enlisted in the United States Army serving two terms in Vietnam, then retired in 1986 after twenty years of service.
Vernon is survived by his wife Patty, three children Tonya & Toby Ault (son-in-law) Michele & Chris Reneau (son-in-law) and Thomas Knaggs. Grandchildren Chelsey & Casey Sprinkle, Katelyn King, Lana, Lila, Naomi, Chansol & Norah Reneau.
There will be a Life Well Celebration Service on Sunday, August 8, 2021, 2:30 pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with the United States Army Honor Guard will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
