To Jeanne and the entire Hall family,
I was on a business trip when I learned of Bill's passing and wasn't sure what I could do.  I've been reading all of the wonderful memories that people have written and they are all so true!

I've known Bill since 1975 (Hyatt/Hilton Head) and Jeanne even longer (CCNC)!  You know the saying "they broke the mold when God made this person or that person" and it is usually spoken in a derogatory way but in the case of Bill Hall, God certainly "broke the mold" in the most amazing way possible!  I assure you that I am a much better person for having known and been friends of Bill Hall.  There is nothing Bill wouldn't do for anyone (job wise, financially, advice +++) but the one thing that you can't buy more of and the one thing that no one seems to have enough of is: TIME - Bill Hall always made time to find out what was going on in your life, always made time to give you some sound advice, Bill Hall always made you feel like you were the most important person in the world!  How many people do you know who are like Bill Hall?  

We will always miss coming to Hall's Chophouse and not seeing Bill but we will always continue to come to Hall's to see Jeanne, Billy & any other Hall family that might be there because they too learned from Bill and they also make sure that you are most important to them!

There is definitely a void in my life but also such gratefulness for having him as a friend for the past 45 years.  God bless you Bill - you will be missed but never forgotten.

I met Bill when our group of Jeanne’s high school friends had a reunion at Folly Beach a few years back. We had dinner at Halls on a Sunday evening, enjoying delicious food and, after dessert, disrupting the whole restaurant as we danced in the isles to 60’s music from the smiling piano player.   What a gracious and warm gentleman Bill was! After reading and learning so much more about him since his sad, untimely passing, I clearly realize how perfectly matched Bill and Jeanne were.  Jeanne has always been SUNSHINE ON A CLOUDY DAY. Her energy (always a cheerleader), generosity (lots of wine for our past group reunions), her busy life...but always time for friends.  Bill lives on through our Walter Johnson HS friend Jeanne Lamond—with the compassion, fun, giving spirit, kindness, love of people and community—that was Bill.  Sincere and deeply heart felt condolences to Jeanne and the wonderful family that she and Bill created — Love, Janette & Gary in your home state if Maryland.

To the Hall family and friends, I’ve known him for about 8 years. Every time I came to Charleston for my health issues, my mom and I would always stop by Halls to eat and visit with the Hall family. Every time I would walk up to Mr. Bill, we’d both always have a huge smile on his face and gave eachother the biggest hug and it just made a lot of my down days 100% better. He surly will be missed by all. Mr Hall was both an amazing businessman and had a special persona.  He had the gift of gab and had that rare quality of making everyone feel welcome at his restaurants.  I always appreciated that he was always very nice to me both personally and professionally. I was always astounded by his ability to remember names of literally thousands of patrons of Halls, making you feel at home.  A great lesson to many of my other restaurant clients.  

Dear Jeanne,
Your husband was a bright light in my life for so long, a confidante and a real pal. I will always remember his great stories (unbelievable sometimes, but all true) and his great ethics.  His love for you and your family was deep and total. He is on my list of finest people I will ever know. 
I send you all my deep sympathy. I am so very sad today, but am happy that “Big Bill” was in my life for many memorable years.

Dear Jeanne, Billy and Tommy, 

I got up yesterday and something was wrong, I wasn’t myself, I was sad, and I didn’t know why, there seemed to be a dent in the universe I didn’t know about that was impacting my day. Then, turning on my phone, I got the news, Bill Hall had passed. I felt it before I knew it. Bill Hall was that impactful. I and my entire family are heartbroken for your family. 

I learned fundamental business and personnel lessons from Mr. Hall, as I called him, and knowing him (and the entire Hall Family) has had a huge impact on how I approach my business and personnel life. As a young doorman at the Hyatt on Hilton Head that Bill managed with command, assertiveness and grace, he taught me if your job was to pick up cigarette butts do it great and to my horror he was picking up cigarette buts, my job, to prove his point. He didn’t use words he used action – a lesson in business I never forgot. 

My personnel life lesson I learned from him was maybe even more valuable, the importance of family and friendship, even friends that sometimes you didn’t see for months or years, he showed it in how he would great you with sincere joy reserved for family– you would not have known that months or years had passed if you were an observer of these distant reunions. 

My thoughts and prayers are with you Jeanne, Billy, Tommy. The Drum Family’s hearts are full of love for your family and full of great memories as well as our undivided thoughts and prayers.
