Friends and Family gathered at Pierce Brothers Valhalla in North Hollywood, California on Friday, September 24th, 2021 in memory of my brother, Anthony, so that together we may acknowledge and share both our joy in the gift that his life was to us, and the pain that his passing brings. In sharing the joy and the pain together, may we lessen the pain and remember more clearly the joy. Anthony was just 38 years young when he passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 9th, 2021 in Antelope Valley, California. He was born on the winter Tuesday morning of November 16th, 1982 in Los Angeles, California. He is now in God's glory and reunited with his dearly beloved parents, Elizabeth Rivera Ascencio and Francisco Marmolejo III, his little bro with the golden smile, Jaime Rivera Alvarez, his nana Maria Helen Lopez, and güita Maria Amparo Marmolejo. He will also be reunited with his two favorite furry friends, right-hand pup Pookie and his favorite cuddle buddy Duke. Anthony will be forever remembered by his only child, Jonathan Xavier, whom he always kept close in his heart. Jonathan will always be his greatest accomplishment and his greatest love. It was his honor to be the father of such a stand-up guy. He will be forever missed and remembered by his siblings Lola, Angel, Vanessa, Rey Jr., Mario, Francisco IIII, Carmen and Jose. Anthony's memory will continue to live on with his Güito, Tata, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and pals. Anthony lived his life with great pride as a father, brother, grandson, primo, & best bud.
Anthony has been my companion through life from the moment I was born. He is the one and only witness to my life. We endured a lot together, just he and I. He was the best big brother a girl could ask for. When I needed him most , he was there . At a very young age, I remember him cooking and feeding me, walking me to school, we never missed Sunday mass, he taught me how to drive, he played catch with me. He very much was not only my brother but also a father figure to me. He made me laugh until I cried, we roasted each other with quick witted jabs, we had fun thrift shopping to hunt down antiques and vintage clothes. I have all these memories, inside jokes, and wisdom he provided that will continue to guide me throughout my life, therefore he will always be with me. I thank him for everything he taught me, everything he did, and the comfort he provided.
Anthony, I know you are cooking with nana and keeping the recipes to yourselves, Cracking jokes with our brother Jaime, and busting out the Van Damme dance from Kickboxer for mom. Rest well on your journey brother. We will miss you immensely and love you for an eternity.
Our family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, support , and kindness you have provided us during our moment of sorrow. We are truly grateful for you and it will always be remembered.
