She was born in Los Angeles, California in 1953 to Jessie Mae Lyons. Brenda was a gifted and intuitive youth, wild with excitement and a generous spirit. After graduating from High School, she briefly attended California State University, Los Angeles before giving birth to her first son, Tyrone Ellington Holloway, Jr. She went on to have two more children, Terrance Elzee Holloway and Liza Helena Smalling. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Wilma Jean Walker. She is survived by her three children, six grandchildren, Aysia, Ahmia, Terrance II, Tamia, Tyrel, Ty’Ree, and extended family. Brenda will be remembered as a warrior; strong, passionate, and discerning. She was multi-faceted. She was as stylish as she was graceful. She was charismatic and outspoken. Brenda had an uncanny ability to infuse energy into any space she occupied. She passed down to her children her love of food, music, and the California coastline. Her Christian faith helped her persevere through troubled times, from the Civil Rights Movement to a Global Pandemic and everything in between.
