Gary Russell Poland Sr.

December 19, 1941 - May 11, 2013

Gary was born on December 19, 1941 in Glendale, CA and passed away on May 11, 2013 at his home in Glendale, CA. He was a Ready Mix driver for over 40 years before retirement. He enjoyed his job and had many stories to share with friends and family. Gary is survived by his siblings, Shirley (Owen) Bouey, Randy (Sharon), and Marla Poland; sons, Warren Knott, Robert, Gary Jr. (Tika) and Jerry (Linda) Poland; grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Gary III, Andrew, Ethan, and Isabella Poland, and Brandy, Miranda, and Brandon Knott; and great- grandchild, Kama. Gary enjoyed playing pool, boating, loved the water, going on vacations (been on several cruises). He enjoyed going to the movies and watching TV from his favorite chair. He loved to go out to eat, and usually it was at his favorite restaurant, Acapulco. Gary also enjoyed socializing at the Big Fish with his friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 19th, 4-8 pm at Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park & Mortuary, 10621 Victory Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91606. Funeral will be offered on Monday May 20th, 10:00 am Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park & Mortuary. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Gary’s honor to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) in care of Jerry Poland.
