Greg was a very close friend of my father, Walt Prey.  They shared a common bond with model airplanes.  Greg met my father out at the Basin in the early 90s.  He was blown away with the artwork and craftsmanship of my father’s model airplanes.  Greg told me about the first time he met my father out at the flying circle.  There was the flamed 57 nomad parked by the flying circle and my father had one of his masterpiece planes sitting on the ground prepping for flight.  Greg got on the ground looking at the “Indian Summer” in sheer amazement. Greg said he wanted to copy the crap out of it.  My father appreciated his complements and took him under his wing honing Greg’s craft in the hobby.  Through this they became very good friends.  

When my father past in Dec of 2011 Greg was devastated at his passing.  He equated it to the loss of his brother.  Greg and I shared stories and spent many hours taking about my father as we were his two biggest fans.  This was good for both of us and we became friends through this loss.  

Greg was a very selfless man and this showed through the care he gave his parents in their last years.  He put his well being aside to help others and at times seemed too much but that’s he rolled.  His passion for cats was something else.  He was at a level most will never get too caring for them.  I’m sad for Gregg’s passing and will miss our long conversations about my father, music, model airplanes, cars and the way things use to be.  He was very complementary to me and gave praise on accomplishments and was always very encouraging. 

I know that Greg and my father are at the flying field in heaven with his brother, his parents, and many other loved ones who have past.  

Attached is a photo of my Father Walt with the Indian Summer.  My dad was his best friend and the plane he is holding was Greg favorite.  Rest in peace brother.   


Greg was one of the most sincere and beautiful souls I was blessed to know.  May he Rest In Peace. Forever in my prayers.

Linda sent me a photo of us together reading to    “Honey” way back 56 years ago so I want to add it here. Those were great days, going to the Colorado River with your grandparents and going to Lockheed with your dad to see the planes. I cherish our phone call this summer.

Safe journey to our gentle and loving Gregory. You are  a spectacular man with a fantastic sense of humor. I have known you since you were five and there were two of you which made you all the more special. You will never be forgotten and you are missed greatly. Eternal love is now yours.

Greg Howie and I flew airplanes, traded motors and parts, shared music and just talked alot..Greg will be missed by me and many other as he was a good person..Greg loved cats , cars, music and ofcourse airplanes. I flew last Saturday and dedicated the day to Greg.. Greg was my friend..I will miss you Buddy..tight lines and soft landings..fly with the Angels Bro.
