Jay was a consumer of knowledge and was an avid bibliophile of medical advances in Dermatology, US and world news, nature, birds, national parks, art, music and biographies of those who inspired him. His hero in medicine was Dr. Albert Schweitzer, a medical missionary of Africa. Jay practiced Dermatology in Hawaii and in San Francisco, California. Jay believed strongly in the power of languages and was fluent in French and Spanish and had a good understanding of German and Italian.
Jay will be buried alongside his father James West Arrott Jr. and his brother Neale Holdsworth Arrott at the Sewickley Cemetery in Pennsylvania. Services in California and at graveside are pending due to the coronavirus pandemic.
