Born on September 5,1980, Jessica was the daughter of the late Audrey (Jenkins) and Jeff White. She was a member of Augusta Presbyterian Church in Augusta, KY and graduated from Augusta High School in 1998. She earned her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development from Pierce College in Los Angeles.
Prior to relocating to California from Kentucky, Jessica worked at Williams & Williams Photography, where she met and later married Joseph (JD) Bowers. After moving to CA, Jessica was an administrative assistant at AIA Surety and later taught pre-school. She was also the Secretary for the Village at Pierce Architectural Committee for the past eight plus years.
Jessica had an affection for animals, especially her cats, and dogs, Artie and Olive who were dear to her heart. That affection extended beyond her home as she often courteously pet sat for others. She was a theater enthusiast of both live stage and film productions: Her favorite musical was Phantom of the Opera which she had the pleasure of seeing at least three times. A treasured annual tradition that Jessica enjoyed was Monsterpalooza, a West Coast horror and special effects convention in Pasadena, CA.
Jess collected magnets from all of her adventures and was thrilled when family and friends would bring her a magnet from their adventures! She had a deep love for the Sesame Street character, Elmo. Jess had an Elmo stuffie since childhood that she would cuddle, especially during her hospitalizations.
Disneyland was one of the places she loved most. The adventure, atmosphere and energy there always made Jessica happy. She also found joy and excitement in being a devoted fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team and she rarely missed the opportunity to cheer them on.
Jessica took joy and pleasure in decorating for the holidays and going to see Christmas lights and other holiday displays. Although easily frightened, she always agreed to go to Horror Nights at Universal Studios. That was Jess, always eager to spend time with friends and family.
Jessica loved her family and friends. She was fun-loving, energetic, sweet, and kind to everyone she met. Her presence could light up a room and her infectious laugh was like no other. Jess loved people and people loved Jess and she will forever be remembered for her loyalty, her love, her laughter and her light.
Jessica is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Joseph (JD) Bowers whom she married December 22, 2007; her sisters Maria (Jimmy) Dodson of Gettysburg, PA and Mary “Katie” (Patrick) Tumlin of Vanceburg, KY; her uncle Phil (Carmen) White, nieces Audrey and Emmaleigh Dodson and cousins Miranda Kaye White, Josh (Jill) White, Shawn (Dr. Kayla) White, Cameron White and Liam, Luke and Mila White; her aunt and uncle Kevin and Jenny (White) Hiles whom she regarded as surrogate parents; her in-laws, Gary and JoAnna Bowers of Aberdeen, OH, and close friend, Carey Crowell of Pacoima, CA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Pearl and Paul Jenkins; her paternal grandparents, Bud and Betty White, who lovingly raised her; and her aunt, Lisa White.
Honoring the family’s wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jessica's memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation ( https://www.kidney.org/ways-to-give ).
