Kay Ellen Carpenter-Dorner passed away peacefully at her home in Camarillo, California, on October 5, 2025.
Born on May 14, 1940, in Los Angeles, California, Kay was the daughter of Homer Carpenter of Rochelle, Illinois, and Olive Woolacott of London England, who both preceded her in death.
After graduating from secretarial college at 18 years of age, Kay began her lifelong career with the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company-later known as Pfizer Pharmaceuticals-where she rose to become the Executive Assistant to the President of West Coast operations. Her dedication, professionalism, and warm presence made her a trusted colleague and friend to many throughout her career.
Kay retired from Pfizer at age 62 and embraced her love of travel, exploring many corners of the world in her retirement years.
She was also a passionate animal lover, and supported many causes and organizations dedicated to animal welfare and care. She was never without at least one dog or cat as a central part of her life.
Kay was a devout believer in our Savior, Jesus Christ, and LOVED her church. She was a member of Hollywood Presbyterian church for many years, and later became a very active member of Trinity Presbyterian of Camarillo, California, serving the church as both a Deacon and Elder for many years.
Kay will always be remembered for her sharp mind, her kindness, compassion and never ending sense of humor.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the ASPCA, the Doris Day Animal Foundation or any like minded animal welfare organization, or Trinity Presbyterian Church of Camarillo, California would be appreciated.
