Michael Anthony Acosta, affectionately known as Mike, passed away on March 23, 2026, at the age of 38. He was a beloved son, brother, partner, and devoted father whose life was shaped by love, adventure, and genuine connection with others.
Born on July 16, 1987, Michael was raised in South Los Angeles by his mother, Rosa, alongside his siblings, John and Jazi. As the youngest of three, he was deeply cherished and known for the joy and warmth he brought into every space. From an early age, Mike was studious, thoughtful, and quick to form friendships—qualities that remained constant throughout his life.
After graduating from Dorsey High School, Michael attended California State University, Northridge in 2005. During his time there, he joined Gamma Zeta Alpha, a fraternity dedicated to cultivating leaders and strengthening communities. His involvement reflected his commitment to growth, service, and brotherhood. Mike proudly graduated from CSUN in 2009.
Mike lived a full and meaningful life, marked by a deep love for travel and shared experiences. Alongside his devoted partner, Alma, he explored the world—embracing new places, cultures, and memories, one destination at a time. After more than a decade together, they welcomed their daughter, Rose, followed two years later by their son, Mikey.
As a family, they continued to travel, near and far, creating experiences that reflected the dreams Mike once had as a child. Above all else, Mike wanted to be remembered as a present and engaged father, someone who actively participated in his children’s lives and filled their world with meaningful moments. His legacy lives on through the joy, love, and guidance he gave to Rose and Mikey.
If you knew Mike, your relationship with him was personal and special. Time together often included shared adventures, meaningful conversations, laughter, great food, or a well crafted cocktail. He especially loved smoked BBQ, fresh mariscos, and his all time favorite—pupusas. His humor, warmth, and vibrant spirit brought people together and made every gathering brighter.
Michael’s life was far too short, but the memories he created will endure. He is survived by his beloved children, Rose and Mikey; his partner, Alma; his mother, Rosa; his siblings, John and Jazy; and a wide circle of family and friends who will continue to carry him in their hearts.
Mike’s legacy lives on through the love he gave, the experiences he shared, and the lasting impact he made on everyone, fortunate enough to know him.
A Visitation will be held for Michael at Pierce Brothers Valhalla, 10621 Victory Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91606, US, on April 8, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 11:59 pm.
