Refugio Estrella

Refugio “Cuca” Estrella, aged 79, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024. Born with a heart full of love and a spirit of resilience, Cuca left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She is survived by her devoted husband, Manuel Estrella, her two beloved daughters, Mirella Estrella and Dolores Torres, her son-in-law Simon Torres, and five cherished grandchildren: Patricia Sandoval, Priscila Sandoval, Griselda Torres, Leonardo Torres, and Simon Torres. She also leaves behind three precious great-grandchildren: Julian Sandoval, Angel Torres, and Giancarlo Torres.

Cuca was a dedicated grandmother and great-grandmother, always standing by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, defending them with a fierce, protective love. Her love for her family was expressed in many ways, from preparing their favorite fruits and home-cooked meals to sharing her warmth and joy through conversations and phone calls with her siblings.

In her professional life, Cuca worked tirelessly building airport parts until she retired at the age of 75, showcasing her dedication and work ethic. In her free time, she found peace in sewing and took great pride in keeping her home spotless, always creating a warm and welcoming space for her family. She loved dancing, smiling, and making memories with her loved ones.

Cuca was a strong, resilient woman who fought bravely until the very end. Her unwavering strength and love will forever be remembered by those who knew her. She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved daughter, Griselda Estrella, and her sister, Socorro Ramirez, who passed away just a day after her. They are together again with their parents, watching over their family with love and grace.

Cuca’s love, wisdom, and laughter will be deeply missed, but her legacy of strength and kindness will live on through her family.

Refugio “Cuca” Estrella, de 79 años, falleció en paz el 22 de diciembre de 2024. Nacida con un corazón lleno de amor y un espíritu de fortaleza, Cuca dejó una huella imborrable en todos los que la conocieron. Le sobreviven su devoto esposo, Manuel Estrella, sus queridas hijas, Mirella Estrella y Dolores Torres, su yerno Simón Torres, y cinco amados nietos: Patricia Sandoval, Priscila Sandoval, Griselda Torres, Leonardo Torres y Simón Torres. También deja atrás a tres bisnietos adorados: Julián Sandoval, Ángel Torres y Giancarlo Torres.

Cuca fue una abuela y bisabuela dedicada, siempre al lado de sus nietos y bisnietos, defendiéndolos con un amor feroz y protector. Expresaba su amor por su familia de muchas maneras, desde prepararles frutas y comidas caseras hasta compartir su calidez y alegría en largas conversaciones telefónicas con sus hermanos.

En su vida profesional, Cuca trabajó incansablemente fabricando piezas para aeropuertos hasta jubilarse a los 75 años, mostrando su dedicación y ética de trabajo. En su tiempo libre, encontraba paz en la costura y se enorgullecía de mantener su hogar impecable, siempre creando un espacio cálido y acogedor para su familia. Le encantaba bailar, sonreír y crear recuerdos con sus seres queridos.

Cuca fue una mujer fuerte y resiliente, quien luchó valientemente hasta el final. Su fuerza inquebrantable y su amor serán siempre recordados por quienes la conocieron. Ahora está reunida en el cielo con su amada hija, Griselda Estrella, y su hermana, Socorro Ramírez, quien falleció un día después que ella. Ahora están juntas con sus padres, velando por su familia con amor y gracia.

El amor, la sabiduría y la alegría de Cuca serán profundamente extrañados, pero su legado de fortaleza y bondad vivirá en su familia.

A visitation/velorio for Refugio will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Pierce Brothers Valhalla, 10621 Victory Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91606. A funeral mass/misa will occur Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 7800 Vineland Ave, Los Angeles, CA 91352. A gravesider/sepelio will occur Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park and Mortuary, 10621 Victory Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 91606.
