Born in Bacolor, Pampanga, Philippines, Reynaldo spent much of his early life in his homeland before immigrating to the United States in 1977 in pursuit of the American dream. Through hard work, determination, and unwavering dedication, he built a beautiful life for himself, his beloved wife, and his family.
Reynaldo was a gifted builder and craftsman. In his early years, he worked in a furniture shop creating cabinets, where his natural talent for building first took shape. After moving to the United States, he worked as a pharmacy clerk before finding his true calling in construction. As a skilled carpenter, he spent many years perfecting his craft, eventually founding Helrey Construction in the early 2000s as a residential contractor. He was known for his remarkable ability to build and fix just about anything, becoming the go-to person for advice and guidance on home projects. One of his proudest accomplishments was building the family home where his loved ones continue to gather—a lasting symbol of his dedication and love.
Though Reynaldo was naturally quiet and reserved, those closest to him knew him as kind, loving, thoughtful, and wise. He carried a calm presence, paired with a clever sense of humor that would shine through, especially when he was among family or enjoying a glass of red wine. He was joyful, strong, and a man who stood firm in his values—a realist who took no nonsense, yet loved deeply.
Reynaldo found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved music, especially the timeless classics of Matt Monro, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley. He enjoyed singing karaoke at family gatherings, sharing laughter and creating memories that will be cherished forever. He also enjoyed bowling, playing poker, looking up recipes, shopping, dressing up for events, and spending quality time with family.
Cooking was one of Reynaldo’s greatest expressions of love. He prepared meals for his family nearly every day, taking pride in nourishing those he cared for. When he wasn’t cooking, he delighted in taking his loved ones out to eat. Food was truly his love language. Among his many dishes, his dinuguan was especially beloved and often requested—a recipe that will live on as part of his legacy.
A man of faith, Reynaldo was raised in a Catholic family and attended Catholic school in his youth. Together with his wife, he remained rooted in his faith and found comfort in attending church regularly.
Reynaldo is survived by his beloved wife, Herculina, with whom he shared many years of marriage; his three children, Rachellene, Reggie, and Lyndon; and his cherished grandchildren, Kayla Nicole, Aralyn Rey, and Leila Victoria. He also leaves behind extended family and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
Reynaldo’s legacy lives on through the homes he built, the meals he lovingly prepared, and the countless lives he touched with his quiet strength and steady presence. Every corner of the home he created, every recipe passed down, and every lesson shared will serve as a lasting reminder of a life well lived and deeply loved.
He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
