A devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Soliman leaves behind a legacy marked by perseverance, kindness, and enduring family devotion.
Born on October 22, 1934, in Corregidor, Bataan, Philippines, Soliman was the cherished son of Narciso Villapando and Salome Viray, and the sixth of eleven children. Growing up in such a large and spirited household helped shape his resilience, compassion, and unwavering sense of responsibility—values that guided him throughout his life.
Soliman graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture. His early career began with humble roots as a candy distributor, a role that highlighted his entrepreneurial spirit and determination. Through persistence and vision, he became the owner of the Fil Oil gas station, a business that thrived under his leadership. He later served as a bank manager, earning the trust and respect of colleagues, customers, and community members through his fairness, integrity, and steady leadership.
Devoted not only to his work but also to service, Soliman was an active member of the Lions Club, where he contributed to community initiatives, charitable efforts, and civic programs. His involvement reflected his belief in giving back and supporting those around him.
After completing his banking career, Soliman made a major life transition by migrating to the United States in 1981. There, he continued to work hard, build community, and pursue the activities he loved. He especially enjoyed playing tennis and bowling, hobbies that brought him joy, excitement, and lasting friendships.
In 1957, Soliman married Gloria Salonga at Our Lady of Sorrows in Pasay City, beginning a lifelong partnership grounded in love, faith, and mutual devotion. Together, they created a warm, welcoming home filled with strong values and cherished family traditions.
Soliman is lovingly survived by his wife Gloria and their five children, with their spouses:
• Venzon and Christine
• Volivar and Michael

He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren—JP, Nikko, VJ, Vinze, Nanook, Venice, Samantha, Samuel, Teo, and Joel—each of whom brought him immense joy. He is also a beloved great-grandfather to Zeb, Riley, Connor, Keoni, Zeke, and Koa, who brightened his later years with laughter, energy, and love.
Soliman is also survived by his siblings Ted, Cristy, Rizal, and Elvie, with whom he shared lifelong bonds of affection and loyalty.
To his family and all who knew him, Soliman will be remembered for his gentle humor, warm smile, quiet strength, and his unwavering dedication to doing good—both within his family and in the community he served.
