Vivian passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024 at 6:03 p.m. at Providence Hospital in Mission Viejo.
Vivian was previously married to George Upegui Sr. in 1958 and they were divorced in 1979. They raised two sons, George and Joseph and also had a daughter, Iris in 1958 who was adopted and raised by another family in Massachusetts due to the fact Vivian's parents thought that would be best at the time.
Later Vivian and Iris (birth name Sandy) found each other and a reunion with family ensued. Vivian's parents were Kurt Hellmer and Gabrielle Hellmer (Bing).
Her parents passed away in 1975.
Vivian was an only child.
Later in the 80s, Vivian met Hans Ralk her companion for 31 years until his death several years ago. Vivian also reconnected with Fred Wallace years later and the two shared companionship.
Vivian graduated from Inglewood High School in Inglewood, CA and attended classes at El Camino College in Torrance.
Vivian has over 20 grandchildren and is Godmother to Rennie Brent (formerly Upegui). Vivian was loved immensely by all family members, friends and acquaintances.
Vivian worked as a babysitter sitter in her early years and then went into banking and eventually escrow while also maintaining her role as a traveling notary.
Vivian's hobbies were traveling, watching old movies, reading, music, shopping, and so much more.
Vivian attended Rolling Hills Covenant Church and Saint John Fischer in Palos Verdes. Vivian lived in Palos Verdes from 1977 to 2024 and moved to Mission in August of 2024.
Vivian's favorite food was Mexican and ofcourse not without one strawberry margarita. Her favorite movie was "The long long trailer" and music was jazz and classical.
Vivian lived a beautiful life and was blessed daily. In 1989 Vivian was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and in 2023 diagnosed with a form of Lymphoma and arterial damage in her legs. In December of 2023 Vivian had a heart attack. Vivian's health struggles were a true struggle and finally led to her passing.
Vivian is now resting in peace and will surely be missed by all who knew her.
