He started his career as the owner of a card and gift shop on Utica Avenue in Brooklyn, NY, and then spent many years as a Buyer’s Representative for various companies before settling into Sales for the majority of his career, spending over seventeen years at Lawyers Co-operative Publishing.
Alan was a kind, warm, happy, and loving man, who positively touched the lives of all his friends and family. He had an infectious smile and spirit, that made everyone gravitate around him. He was intelligent, and always generous with his time and expertise for those in need. He served his community by donating his time to several organizations such as Give Kids the World and Canine Companions. He had such a zest for life, and loved experiencing new things and learning about new cultures through his extensive travel over the years. He enjoyed all live performances and frequently attended the theater, ballet, and concerts.
Alan was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Norma Finfer, and is survived by his current wife, Ann Funk, his daughters Dr. Bonnie Lynn Finfer and Amy Finfer Williams, his son-in-law Michael Williams, his grandchildren Cameron Warner and Dylan Warner, his sister Carole Kaplan and her husband Donald Kaplan, his nephew Jonathan Kaplan, his nephew Marc Kaplan and his wife Laurie Kaplan, and his great niece Ella Kaplan.
A funeral service will be held for the immediate family at Star of David Memorial Chapel on Thursday, August 6th, 2020 at 2:45 PM. All friends and family are welcome to join the service virtually through the following Zoom link:
