

Aston L. Scott Sr. was born in Myersville St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, on May 26, 1921 to Roderick T. Scott and Carolyn Gayle. He was the eldest of seven siblings, and leaves behind Arthur (Pat), Merlin (Leo deceased), Neville (Gloria) and Franklin (Sandra). He was predeceased by his other siblings Fitz, Milton and Elise.
As a child he attended Half Way Tree public school and Kingston Technical High School. Aston enjoyed playing dominos, cricket, football (soccer) and cycling competitively.
Aston’s career included working in the Sugar Estate Industry where he excelled in machinery maintenance. He later was a part of the managerial staff at Jamaica Packaging Industry.
He was actively involved in the organization of a major political party between 1945 -1960.
In the US he worked for an auto industry contracting company, he designed and supervised machinery used to make car accessories. His creativity extended to the making of protective bars for homes. He owned a healthy business of making Ginger Beer, Roots Tonic and Sorrell drinks.
On April 28, 1943 Aston married Myrtle E. Dyke. Together they raised five children. Valerie (Hull), Andrea (Munroe) Aston Jr., Yvette (Weekes) and Betty. Aston was an involved father-in-law to Steve Hull, Maurice Munroe and Ron Weekes. He was a loving grandfather of 12, Sheryl Chung (Knibb) Geoff Munroe, Althea Ishmael (Knibb) Kisha Munroe, Robert Scott, Jason Munroe, Dwayne Maddox, Aston Scott 111, Sasha Hicks (Scott), Ilana Munroe, John Paul Scott and Zachary Scott. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren Kayne, Nia, Imani, Kobe, Mekhi, (Malik decd), Quinton, Madison, Robert Jnr., Binairbah, Avery, Jordan, Alani, and JP Jr.
In 1970 Aston migrated to the US, living first in New York and Connecticut. In 1999, Aston and Myrtle relocated to Margate, where he lived out the remainder of his 94 years. Aston worshipped with his late wife Myrtle at First Presbyterian Church, Coral Springs and was a participant in the Golden Eagles Club.
He occupied himself in his later years as an avid gardener and doted on his pet dog Prince.
Aston will be missed by his surviving family, friends, and those who came to know him. He gave his heart to the Lord and now rests in His presence.
