Bernice GRANAT

March 9, 1918May 18, 2020

Bernice was born in NYC to Bessie and Louis Goldsmith, one of five children. She met and married Murray Granat at 18 years old, and had a 50+ year love affair. They lived in the Five Towns of LI before moving to Inverrary when it was first developed. She has two sons, Harvey( Phyllis) and Richard(Jennifer), 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren She is also survived by her beloved younger sister Sissy Hollenberg, her sister in law Dorothy Goldsmith and many nieces, nephews and cousin. Bernice had a long career as a very successful interior designer. She decorated many of the homes in Inverrary and other South Florida communities. An avid golfer, she had two holes in one, was club champion and played into her 90’s. She was also an avid card player, and played until very recently. Her greatest love was for her family and she knew everything about everyone. Speaking to them daily kept her up to date. Music was also a big part of her life and she knew the words to most songs. She was an incredible role model for all who knew her and will be missed but never forgotten.

Aunt Bernice was one of a kind. But I don’t have to tell that to anyone who knew her. She was as beautiful inside as she was out. We will miss her so. Glad you are with Uncle Murray now. Sending all our love.

What a class act in every sense of the world. She was so beautiful and so engaged - she was the type of person who made you happy just for being in her company. She will be so missed. I feel blessed that I was able to see her at my mom's birthday lunch in February. Now she's with her one true love Murray. I hope she meets up with Rose and Moe for a cocktail. My love to all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved you all so. xoxo

Our living memorial to Mother. She bought us this Rose of Sharon a few years ago when she last visited us at our treasured home in the Berkshires
While it does not bloom till Fall , it has started to bud out and come to life
We will always have smiles this time every year as we see it grow and develop the buds that will open to beautiful flowers that will remind us of our beautiful mother

Our Virtual service this morning , while difficult for us being thousands of miles away was a very moving and fitting tribute to mother. Harvey and Richard spoke beautifully and Rabbi Menachem Smith memorialized her long and wonderful life
We feel so blessed to have had mother with us for so many years and know she will continue to watch over us every day
All our love
Phyllis and Harvey

How do I ever express the loss of my beautiful sister!
We we are so blessed to live together in Florida for the last 50 years!
But the last eight years at Garden Plaza were the best… We lived next-door to each other in apartments just a wall lbetween us!
We were always known as the beautiful loving sisters!
I will miss her terribly but try to remember all our wonderful memories!
Rest In Peace Bern!

Her smile will live with us forever!
We wish her loving family many happy memories.

My love and sincere condolences on the passing of my Aunt Bernice. Aunt Bern was a sassy, classy and wonderful human being. A memory that always sticks in my mind was visiting Aunt Bern and Aunt Sis in Florida some years back when I was with my two best friends from childhood. We stopped by for lunch and they treated my friends as if they'd known them as long as they'd known me. That always stuck with me... treat people like family.

I am sending love to all the family who've lost such a beautiful matriarch. May she be resting easy on the spirit side and her memory forever be a blessing for us all.

With love,
Daryl Thuroff (Michael and Marlyn's daughter; Frances and Irving's granddaughter)

Our deepest condolences on Bernice's passing. Nancy and I were so, so fortunate to have "met" Bernice for the first time a few weeks ago via a phone call. What a lovely, lively woman! We will always be grateful for that call, and look forward to learning more about her and her life in the days to come. May her memory always be for a blessing.

With all our love.

Amy, Mike, Michelle and Emma
