Bette was born in Flint, Michigan to Della and Sam Lande on December 2, 1931. She graduated from
Flint Central High School and attended Michigan State University. She married her partner for life,
Marvin, on February 1, 1953 in Flint. Together they were devoted to their family and community. Bette
was the owner of the local franchise of Diet Workshop for many years, where she helped so many
achieve their heath goals. She was the #1 salesperson at the family business, the La-Z-Boy Showcase
Shoppe in Flint. Everything Bette did she did with enthusiasm and love. She was born into a family that
was dedicated to helping others and Bette spent a lifetime doing good deeds. She was a member of
Temple Beth El of Flint, Temple Bat Yam of Ft. Lauderdale, Congregation Beth Israel of Flint, and many
charitable organizations that she threw her heart into – including City of Hope, Hadassah, and ORT. She
was known as the “candy and nut lady” - always bringing candy and nuts to every event. She created
her famous “Bette’s Baskets” with the help of Marv, which helped raise so much for charity.
Bette is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Marvin, son Lewis Heidenrich (Roxanne),
daughter Diana Sherman (Philip), beloved grandchildren David Heidenrich, Sarah Sherman, and Albie
Sherman; nieces and nephews Martha Bombel, Stuart Bombel (Jill), Louis Whitesman (Dana), Ellie
Bombel, Astor and Barron Whitesman. She leaves behind many beloved cousins and wonderful friends.
She is predeceased by parents Della and Sam Lande, sisters Patty Lande and Doris Bombel, and brother
in law Benny Bombel.
Funeral service will be held on Zoom. Burial will take place in Michigan. Please contact the family for
