Dale Eileen Sonenklare, 82, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away on September 8, 2026.

Dale was born in Brooklyn to Lillian and Saul Schleiderer. At the age of seven, she moved with

her parents and sister, Sheila Daskin, to Bay Shore, Long Island. After graduating from high

school, Dale attended Buffalo State University, where she majored in Special Education. She

also spent a semester studying abroad in Siena, Italy, an experience she spoke of fondly.

Dale continued her education in graduate school, earning a master's degree. She

devoted more than 30 years to teaching children with special needs, first in Suffolk County and

later in Bushwick, New York. Her career reflected something that remained important to her

throughout her life: a love of learning and helping others.

Dale met her husband Richard in 1966, right before another trip to Italy. Even Tuscany and gelato could not keep her from him. Once she returned to New York they were inseparable. They shared 59 years of marriage and built a life centered around family, friends, traveling, and, of course, always rooting for their favorite teams, the LA Dodgers and the UK Wildcats.

Dale leaves behind her beloved husband, Richard H. Sonenklare; her children, Stephane M.

Derienzis, Jennifer R. Sonenklare and Daniel N. O'Brien; and her four grandchildren, Simon

Mathew Derienzis, Ethan Joseph Derienzis, Andrew Cole Sonenklare O'Brien and Tess Jayna

Evenson O'Brien. She also held a special place in her heart for all of the family's fur babies,

especially Xana and Elfie.

In addition to being a fantastic mother, grandmother and wife, Dale was a wonderful sister, daughter and daughter-in-law. She honored her parents and in-laws, Regina and Max Sonenklare, keeping their traditions and memories alive.

Dale always had a positive outlook on life and was not afraid to challenge herself, whether it was volunteering at the synagogue in a new capacity or learning how to cook a new recipe. She was always striving to improve her tennis and win a set off her husband here and there.

She loved reading, traveling, painting, tennis, her k-dramas, spending time with friends and being part of her synagogue

community. She had a natural ability to connect with people, forming friendships wherever life took her. On every cruise and vacation, Dale and Richard met wonderful people who became their friends.

A talented artist, Dale filled her home with her beautiful paintings, which will remain treasured by her loved ones.

Above all, she cherished her family and the life she and Richard built together over nearly six decades.

The memorial service will be held Thursday, September 10, at 10:30 AM at Star of David Funeral

Chapel, 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, Florida.

Shiva will be held that evening at 5:30 PM

at B'nai Torah Congregation in Boca Raton.
