Elaine (Weisy) Weisberg Rosenbaum, 90, passed away peacefully on January 3, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was a devoted mother to Lynn Kerr-Willinski (Gary) and Lee Rosenbaum (Barbara), loving grandmother to Brian and Lauren Kerr and Shelley, Blair, Rhett, Hayden and Emma Rosenbaum as well as great-grandmother to two. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in New York in 1942 and always attended Mt. Vernon Day in Florida. When her children were in college, she lovingly opened her small apartment to their friends and always had lonely or hungry college kids sleeping in her living room and eating at her table. She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Philip Rosenbaum, a veteran of World War II. After her husband died, Mrs. Rosenbaum joined the Women’s Travel Club in her 70’s to cruise and see the world as her husband wanted her to do because during his lifetime his memories of seasickness while serving in the Army in the Pacific were very vivid, so she began cruising at the young age of 75! On her 85th birthday, she swam with dolphins in the Florida Keys and then flew across the country and explored Marin County, Yosemite National Park and Hollywood. She then played with a baby tiger cub on her 89th birthday. Elaine led an active life that included being a lifelong bowler, a sport in which she still participated until a few months ago. While also working as a bookkeeper in New York, she traveled around the country in bowling tournaments each year from the 1960’s through the 1980’s with her team from the Westchester Women’s Bowling Association and served for many years alternately as both the President and first Vice-President of the Westchester Women’s Bowling Association in New York. She celebrated her 90th birthday party at Benvenuto’s in November with 50 friends and family members. She was a vibrant and caring soul who was loved by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, at noon at Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Chapel in North Lauderdale. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County or to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Shiva will be held after the funeral at the home of her daughter, Lynn Kerr, in West Lake Worth.
