I was so saddened to hear of Dr. Saxl’s  passing. We were neighbors in Carron House up until my family sold in 2012. She was always there to lend an ear and gave wonderful advice. Shortly after graduating with my bachelors degree I was hesitant to go on to obtain my masters. Dr. Saxl made sure to let me know if I didn’t persue the masters, I would regret later on. I went on to obtain my M.Ed., and am considering going for my doctorate. There is no question to what Dr. Saxl’s advice would have been. May she rest in sweetest peace. Ellen and my mother were classmates at Wellesley and good friends thereafter--almost like sisters.  They had kids around the same time, too, and my brother and I often played with Linda and Stephen when we were small.  After my mother died, 37 years ago, Ellen and her late husband Sherman were very helpful to us.  I last corresponded with Ellen one year ago (almost to the day, Dec 27), which would've been my mother's and her own father's birthday.  Wishing all best for her kids and their families, and I hope they will keep in touch.
