Ethel Sommer was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 19,1921 to Rose and Reuben Heikoff. She died on April 7,2019 in Coral Springs, Florida. Ethel is predeceased by her husband David Sommer. They spent half of their married life in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and then moved to Florida to enjoy their retirement. Ethel was an avid tennis player in her younger years and enjoyed reading, gardening, and needlepointing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She is survived by her two daughters Ellen Goldner (Alan Goldner) and Judy Shankman (Mark Shankman) as well as four grandchildren, Josh Goldner (Tamar Shahar), Rachel Stein (Mark Stein), Sarah Kerner (Zachary Kerner), David Shankman and seven great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her friends and family. Funeral services were held on April 7 at the Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
