Gail Marks was born on August 10th, 1942 in Jackson Heights, Queens and she brought joy into every room she entered from that day on. She loved the summers spent at the lake in Peekskill, was almost never seen without a Pepsi and even drove a bus in Brooklyn!
She was the “mayor” Sheepshead Bay, Coconut Creek and Publix. Everyone she met was drawn in by her magnetic energy and contagious laughter. Gail made friends everywhere she went and accepted people as they were; unless they were not fun.
Gail loved her T.V. shows, shopping, holiday dinners, and going out to eat. She did not love holding grudges, cheese, or most vegetables. Most of all she loved her family. Nanny Penguini as she was known, was happiest when she brought her family all together (most likely at a restaurant), and would tell stories about her life growing up in New York and the almost unbelievable things that happened.
Gail was strong and brave in who she was, and a true and trusted confidant to many. It is certain to say that she was one of a kind.
Sadly, Nanny Gail Penguini Marks lost her battle with Alzheimers on September 1st, 2019. But, as she would say, “Whaddya gonna do?” She is survived by her children Lori (Howard) Lichstrahl, Lynn LoBello, four grandchildren and a great-grandchild, cousins, her ex-husband and wonderful friend Stanley, and a long list of friends. We hope she is pain free having a pepsi with her friends and family whom she missed dearly.
