Gary was born on September 27, 1953, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Wilma and Frank Lembo. As a child, his frequent flights between his mother in Florida and his father in New Jersey sparked a lifelong passion for aviation, especially when pilots would welcome him into the cockpit.
A 1971 graduate of Matawan High School, Gary attended Brookdale Community College and quickly pursued his dreams. He began flying lessons at 17, earned his pilot's license at 18, became an instructor at 21, and spent his career doing what he loved most: flying commercial airliner jets.
Beyond the skies, Gary was a deeply devoted son who dedicated his life to caring for his father. He possessed a love for flying like no other and always shared his adventures with those around him.
He is predeceased by his parents and leaves behind many cousins and friends who will sadly miss his warmth and adventurous spirit.
A funeral will be held at Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery Friday, October 30, 2026 at 1:30pm located at 7701 Bailey Road North Lauderdale, FL 33068 followed by a Celebration of Life at one of Gary’s favorite places “The Field” in Dania Beach, FL from 4-6pm.
Gary’s final resting place will be at Bailey Memorial, Garden of Netanya, 7801 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, in the Garden of Netanya section.
