To the world, Rita was a force of nature, a female entrepreneur in a time when that was almost unheard of. An 80’s housewife from the suburbs of Manchester who had a dream. That dream became a reality and eventually became a phenomenon. Starting in the basement of an old Victorian house. Park Swim School was born in 1981. From this humble beginning and a move to the USA Rita created The British Swim school now operating in over 200 cities in North America. A legacy of turning a passion for stopping children from drowning, into an empire that will continue saving lives and empowering other women to do the same.
This is who Rita is to the world. To those who loved and knew her best, she was so much more.
To Paul and Martin she was the fierce protector, mother and friend whose love knew no bounds.
To her extended family she was ever present, funny, kind, loyal, warm and loving.
To her many friends she was the life of the party, always there, always ready to help and generous beyond comparison.
Rita was the epitome of a renaissance woman. Beyond her accomplishments in business, she was passionate about travelling the world and finding new adventures on every continent.
She loved theater, the arts and had a flair for interior design that reflected both her eclectic taste and her passion for trying new things.
Rita’s life was one that was so well lived. Despite all her achievements, her greatest joy was being surrounded by friends and family, sharing dinners, stories and memories, of which there are so many.
There is now a Rita Goldberg shaped void in all our lives but we will fill it by holding on to the special memories we each have of this remarkable woman.
A memorial service will be held at the Star of David Memorial Chapel, located at 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, FL 33068, United States. The service is scheduled for January 12, 2025, starting at 2:45 pm.
