Raised in Buffalo, New York, Herbert was a man of great character, intellect, and patriotism. He graduated from the University of Miami and then proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the Korean War. Herbert went on to devote his career to shaping young minds as an educator in the Dade County School System, retiring with distinction as a Principal - a role that reflected his intelligence, leadership, and deep commitment to his community.
Herbert was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Elaine Gross Jacobson, and together they shared an extraordinary 68 years of love, partnership, and devotion. He was a proud and dedicated father, cherished grandfather, and beloved great-grandfather. Family was always his greatest priority and the center of his world.
Outside of his career, Herbert could often be found on the golf course or tennis court, or rooting for the Miami Dolphins, pursuing his passions with the same enthusiasm and competitive spirit he brought to everything in life. Those who knew him best remember him for this kindness, sharp intellect, and unwavering commitment to those he loved
The family also wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Herbert's devoted and long-term caregiver, Leonard, whose compassion, dedication, and loyalty brought great comfort to Herbert and his family.
