Irene was evacuated from London to Penzance, Cornwall during the war, and was followed shortly afterwards by her parents and siblings. They spent the subsequent years running a clothing store on Market Jew Street which ignited Irene's interest in retail.
On April 17th 1958 Irene boarded the Queen Mary in Southampton to emigrate to New York City, USA; which she made her home for over fifty years. Irene established herself as a well renowned buyer in the Intimates and Lingerie space, working for various department stores. She has an incredible career, being featured in articles within industry press and winning awards for her work. She finished out her career supporting Israel Bonds to boost the economic growth of Israel, where her dedication to excellence continued to shine.
Irene moved permanently to Lauderhill, Florida in 2018, having enjoyed escaping the NY winters in the area for many decades. She lived a long and successful life and spent her later years in Florida enjoying the garden view from her apartment and tending her plants.
Irene was truly one-of-a-kind; incredibly independent, a keen eye for fashion, a keen bridge player, and avid reader of the NY Times, a great love for classical music and plenty of chutzpah. She will be dearly missed by those close to her.
