Dr. Jerold Maer Lynn (Yehuda Meir ben Zev) died peacefully on his 85th birthday, January 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Weston, Florida. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Neddie Lynn (nee Stein); their beloved children Mark (Lisa), Todd (Dikla), Ashley (Daniel) and Lauren (Jason); his cherished nine grandchildren Adina (Yehuda), Madison, Aaron, Sophie, Hailey, Gabriella, Binyamin, Gavriel, Miriam and great-granddaughter Tehilla; his adoring sisters Joan and Rochelle; and wonderful nieces and nephews and incredible friends. A Longhorn through and through, Dr. Lynn graduated with his BA from the University of Texas and then attended the College of Ostheopathic Medicine in Des Moines, Iowa with a residency at Wayne County Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He and Neddie moved to Plantation in 1969 where Dr. Lynn raised a family and had a renowned career as a prominent and respected Obstetrician and Gynecologist. He received numerous accolades, including Doctor of the Day at the Florida State Capitol in 1985, inducted as a member of the National Register’s Who’s Who in 1995 and 2002, For many years he was active in a number of civic organizations including the Broward County Chamber of Commerce and his homeowners’ association. He was an active member of Temple Beth Israel in Sunrise for many years, and later in life with Temple Kol Ami in Plantation. An avid sports fan, he was a long-term (and long suffering) fan of the Dolphins, Cowboys and Longhorns.
Dr. Lynn savored life. He loved to laugh, to sing, to joke, to talk, to dance. He had a unique gift in that he could speak to anyone about almost anything and make them feel heard and understood. It is no small thing to be strong, respected and admired, while also being kind-hearted, empathetic and giving. It was this rare combination that drew people to him, and he forged life-long bonds with friends in childhood, high school, college, mid-life, and advanced age, all of whom knew that they had a friend for life, for anything and for everything.
Until the very end, Jerold Lynn never wanted to stop living, learning, experiencing the world and loving his friends and his family. His wife and children adored, honored and cherished him throughout his life and will continue to do so for all time. He will be missed in a way that words will never adequately express.
