June 22, 1948 – November 3, 2025
Born in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn, to Thelma and Sol Siegel, Jerry grew up alongside his brother Alex in a warm, multi-generational home with their grandmother, Valley Kaplan. Surrounded by cousins—all boys, until Martine came along (poor Martine!)—his childhood was full of love, laughter, and Family.
Jerry attended Lincoln High School, Brooklyn College, and Brooklyn Law School. After a legendary backpacking trip through Europe, he moved to South Florida and began his law career. Over the years, he transitioned into mediation and elder law, helping hundreds of families navigate difficult seasons with compassion and care.
In South Florida, Jerry met his perfect match, Myrna Abelman, on a blind date arranged by his brother Alex and sister-in-law Esta. They married in 1974 and built a joyful, affectionate life together. They welcomed Kelly in 1980 and Stephen in 1984. Jerry was gentle, playful, and indulgent—a dad who brought laughter to every day.
When Myrna was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 1993, Jerry cared for her with extraordinary devotion. After her passing, he guided his children through grief with openness, courage, and love, surrounded by family and friends like Cheryl and Neil Levine, and Joline and Gene Steinfeld, who became lifelong sources of strength
Jerry became a grandfather in 2014 with the birth of Emory Rose and again in 2017 with Leila Mae. He adored them both, reading stories, telling jokes, and delighting in their every milestone.
In 2020, during the height of COVID, Kelly and Stephen decided to move Jerry from Florida to South New Jersey—despite his insistence that he’d “freeze his ass off.” It was a difficult transition, but once he arrived, he became an integral part of daily family life. Living five minutes from Kelly’s home, with a wonderful caregiver, he shared countless joyful moments with his young granddaughters.
Even as his illness progressed and he moved to memory care, Kelly and Jerry found new ways to connect—through gestures, laughter, and the love shining from his big, beautiful blue eyes.
Jerry Siegel was known for his humor, eloquence, and warmth. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend; a passionate reader; a storyteller; and a caregiver to so many.
He is survived by his children, Kelly and Stephen, his granddaughters Emory Rose and Leila Mae, and his nephews, Stuart Siegel and Kevin Ross, and niece, Valerie Siegel Braverman, and their families. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrna Abelman Siegel, his father, Sol Siegel, mother, Thelman Siegel, and brother, Alexander Siegel.
We celebrate his life—one filled with love, laughter, and the kind of warmth that lingers forever.
